It is with much sadness that Dorchester Rugby Football Club learned of the death of Arthur Bowden on January 1st 2021 at Salisbury Hospital.

Arthur, born in 1928, worked tirelessly for rugby union throughout his life, both as a player and later as a very accomplished administrator for Dorset & Wiltshire RFU as its Secretary over many, many years.

Arthur’s contribution to Salisbury Rugby Football Club, Dorset & Wilts RFU and grassroots rugby cannot be overstated, despite his stature, which he would often remark upon in his legendary after dinner speeches, he was a giant amongst men.

Dorchester RFC send their sincere condolences to Arthur’s wife, Joyce on this very sad news along with all his friends in the rugby family.
