Dave Rees.

Dave, who died on 18 th June 2018, was a former 1 st XV player of distinction. Dave was a very effective
and talented threequarter who never missed an opportunity to declare his Welsh pedigree at a time
when the Welsh backs were the envy of the world. Dave later became heavily involved with the
organisation and the running of the Colts XV; Dave was a great asset to the club.
Dave’s funeral will be held at 3.00pm on Wednesday 4 th July at St George’s Church, Fordington.
Refreshments will be available following the service at the Rugby Club, Coburg Road, Dorchester.

Rod Gray.

Rod, who died on 3 rd May 2018, was also a former 1 st XV player of distinction who subscribed fully to
the belief that it was the back rows job to tackle, a belief that was widely practiced in the Welsh
National Team of that era, Barry John/Neil Bennett being prime examples. However Rod’s reading of
the game and his tactical kicking was a wonder to behold and easily outweighed and justified his
stance on tackling.
Rod’s funeral will be held at 1.30pm on Monday 9 th July at West Suffolk Crematorium, Bury St
Edmunds, Suffolk, IP28 6RR.
Arrangements are in-hand to organise an event at the Rugby Club later in the year to mark the
passing of Rod, further details will be shared later.

*******************************************

The families of Dave and Rod have invited all club members who knew them to attend the services
to pay their respects.
The Club offers its condolence and sympathies to both Dave and Rod’s families.
